It is one of the world’s most stunning
and spectacular sporting events - the
Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
Since 1916 speed demons have gathered in
Colorado at the foot of a 14,110 foot mountain
with one aim – to make it to the top in the shortest
time possible.
Today the ‘Race to the Clouds’ attracts hundreds of
competitors with modified cars, motorcycles and
trucks in all shapes and sizes, producing action-
packed fireworks on every high-octane run.
The 12.42-mile course up Pikes Peak features 156
corners, and as the drivers climb toward the
summit, the thin air slows reflexes and saps
muscle strength. The thin air also robs
engines of 30% of their power at the
summit, so competitors and
vehicles must be in top
shape simply to finish...let
alone win!
Duke is delighted to bring your viewers dramatic
highlights from one of the world’s oldest
motorsport events, with action from 16 classes,
including automotive, exhibition, open wheel,
super stock car and motorcycle, and some 200
competitors.
There is no other race course in the world like the
Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, so let your
viewers find out why it attracts race crews willing to
spend hundreds of thousand of dollars and months
of preparation to compete for the right to be the
King of the Mountain!
