The 1998 Assen Centennial Classic was a supreme festival of speed with over forty World Champions from three different decades: Surtees, Redman, Duke, Agostini, Ubbiali, Read and Sheene, all once more riding the machines on which they won their coveted World Crowns. The glorious sounds of the multi-cylinder Honda four strokes, the V8 Moto Guzzi, the Benellis and MV Agustas, the single cylinder Nortons and the all powerful Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki two strokes echoed across the flat Dutch countryside and brought back sweeping memories of heroic victories and thrilling competition of the golden years of motorcycle racing.
